This is my first “official” post outside of explaining what this blog is about. I’m excited to start actually using this thing now as an outlet for my novus life and thoughts…
A newly discovered emergent thinker, Scot McKnight (author of The Jesus Creed), wrote a wonderful piece on a fundemental aspect of emergent thinking: what this new system of thought is reacting to. Without being overly reductionistic, Scot explains that much of what Brian McLaren (the “grandfather” of the emergent church movement) has written is in reaction to the thoughts expressed by the Puritan John Bunyan in “Pilgrim’s Progress.”
