As promised, here are photos and (suprise) audio clips of today’s festivities! It was a great time of worship, prayer, prophetic protest, and activism at the steps of the United States Capitol Building. There was another great crowd, bigger I think, and we were greatly challenged by Rabbi Saperstein to “not stand idly by” while the mayhem in Sudan continues. While the “world stands idly by the blood of our neighbors,” he implored that we would cry out on behalf of our brothers and sisters in Africa.

The audio was captured using my speaker phone and Audioblogger service. I am actually surprised how well it turned out! Unfortunately, I could only capture 5 min. clips so it is a bit choppy, and I did not quite get the hang of it until half way through, so much of the beginning worship and liturgy is missing. But the best parts are preserved, including Pastor Jama and Rabbi Saperstein.

Next week at 1pm I will be “blogcasting” from the National Press Club, so look for more photos and audio. In fact, if you come to my blog at about 1:25, you can follow the entire event from around the country, and tell others you know who care about international justice causes about the event and the “streaming” effort on my blog for next Sunday! Enjoy the photos and audio, and pray for this effort and Sudan.

Pastor Samuel Jama, a Sudanese pastor in VA who shelters and advocates for people from Sudan. A great appeal using Hebrews to show the Body of Christ in America suffers while the Church in Sudan suffers. The best line by the pastor, which didn’t make it to the blog, was: “It is not like Paris Hilton’s life!” said while describing Sudan…

More remarks by Rabbi Saperstein. Unfortunately, one of the best moments didn’t make it to the post…the unified chant “We will not stand idly by!” Very powerful…
