UPDATE: I wrote a review here if you are interested in my thoughts and impressions of this well-done production.
Tonight I am seeing a play with a good friend of mine called, “Seven Passages: The Story of Gay Christians.” It’s a play that tells the stories of, well, gay Christians and apparently relates them to the seven passages used to condemn homosexuals.
Here’s a description.:
Seven Passages tells of the daily struggles faced by those who attempt to maintain a relationship with their religious communities while striving to live authentic lives as gay and lesbian people. Director Stephanie Sandberg and a team of actors/devisors researched and composed this haunting theatre piece, comprising the actual words of over 100 gay and lesbian Christians of West Michigan.
I live in Grand Rapids where the production is produced and playing, and there’s been a big to do, but I’m excited to see it…should be interesting! I’m going to write a response post this weekend. So if you’re not in GR and will not see it (or if you ARE and want to get together to talk about it afterward…), you can experience it vicariously through me over the weekend!

Looking forward to hearing about this play and all the thoughts you have about it, Jeremy. You will be watching the story of my life…well, my former life, actually. If you ever want some additional insight on this rather “hot” issue, I am your humble servant. Just ask.
Thanks Chris…appreciate the comment! I’m trying to go in their unbiased, either way, and let the stories speak for themselves. It’s unfortunate this issues it “hot” as you put it, because it’s so deep and nuanced and affecting. And to put it on a T-shirt or bumper sticker trivializes the stories and interpretation of God’s words.
