Today I am pleased to share that a friend of mine from Seminary and I are launching two new prayer guides for the West Michigan community, one for Wyoming, Michigan and Holland, Michigan.
Earlier this year I launched a hyperlocal prayer book for Grand Rapids, called PRAYERS FOR MY CITY. It is an amended version of The Book of Common Prayer with twenty-one unique prayers I wrote specifically for Grand Rapids. From the beginning, though, I had interest in creating three separate hyperlocal prayer guides for West Michigan, not only for Grand Rapids but also for Muskegon and Holland, too. When I started pastoring in Muskegon a month ago I saw so much need so I released a similar prayer guide for Muskegon.
Then a few weeks later Steven Kopp, a former classmate from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary, approached me about editing a prayer book for his own city for the fixed-hour prayer guide series. He got ahold of my book for Grand Rapids and, after starting a position as pastor of spiritual formation at a church in Wyoming, thought it could be good for his own city to launch a similar guide. So over the summer we collaborated to add another book to the PRAYERS FOR MY CITY hyperlocal prayer book series. I must say, it has been a joy to work with Steven and a privilege to help him launch his first book.
