Next week I begin my new chapter as a seminarian and I had this brilliant idea to podcast my journey through this new season of preparation. The idea is to record some of my thoughts after my classes to allow some space for self-reflection and wrestling, while providing an opportunity to for others to comment and wrestle along with me. They will probably run around 15-20 minutes, the time it takes me to drive home from school.
I already can see a bunch of potential topics brewing: narrative theology, open theism, French deconstruction, postmodern theology, interpretation, hermeneutic community, and on and on. I am taking Greek 1 (which really wont yield too much), a program intro class (which should yield zilch) and then Biblical Hermeneutics and Systematic Theology. So I think there should definitely be some opportunity for musing, and I hope you’ll join in the fun!

Maybe we could discuss “French Deconstruction” over a piece of French Silk pie and coffee.
Podcast? 🙂
Well well, you answered my question, indirectly of course… 😉 haha…actually when I saw David Blok last night he told me about this really great class that he took last year at GRSem (assuming I’d enroll for it!)…and I couldn’t remember what it was- but evidently it’s the same one you mentioned above: Biblical Hermeneutics. Definitely poses many interesting themes/topics I’d say…and the podcast thing sounds interesting!? Either way, I suppose I’ll have to live this class vicariously through you…so please extend as much knowledge as possible !! 😉
f0r those who are less tech savy or a few generations removed…a podcast is a digital broadcasted commentary on something of choice. It can be a radio interview, a dialogue between two people (or more) or just recorded thoughts. Then it is (generally) saved as an mp3 file to listen to over the internet or download to an ipod, hence (i)pod/(broad)cast=podcast.
It’ll be great, just you wait!

thanks for the technicalities in describing what a podcast is (though i already knew!!)…hope you aren’t including me in the “less tech savy” group based on my response! haha… but either way thanks for the added info…
naw meghann…it was directed at the more…well-aged of the bunch (wink!).
hope you enjoyed your evening!
