Since this blog is also suppose to be a little about what I do on Capitol Hill, I wanted to share an exciting milestone: I just finished leading an 8-week “program” designed to train Capitol Hill staffers to disciple other staffers and interns. This is something I have never done before, but I think it turned out well.

At the beginning of the year, the Lord impressed upon my heart the need to get staffers to be more missional about their work on the Hill. I also began to realize if I desired to see spiritual change, then more than 2 or 8 hands would be needed. Thus began the idea to train staffers to be involved in coming along side another staffer in their spiritual walk. We used a book called Transforming Discipleship. The book was a base for eight study guides I authored to tailor the experience to discipling on the Hill.

All in all, I am so excited for the 8 staffers who were trained to disciple. It will be interesting to see where this goes, but I am convinced lives will be changed through these staffers because of their commitment and enthusiasm. Also, as I was driving home I realized what an amazing privilege I had: I wrote an 8-week study on doing discipleship (a topic I am hardly qualified to write on!), trained Capitol Hill staffers to disciple, elicited their help and involvement in the missional work of Christ on Capitol Hill, and got paid to do it!! Amazing…

Lord, thank you for the amazing work you are doing in the lives of those who work on Capitol Hill. Thank you for your desire to bring about a societal transformation in the Hill-world, a transformation that reflects your kingdom reality. Thank you for the men and women you raised up over these last eight weeks, and thank you for allowing me to play a small role in Your movement…

be His,
