Universal Declaration on Human Rights. “Original intent” of America’s founders is not the hermeneutical key that will guarantee national righteousness. The American flag is not the Cross. The Pledge of Allegiance is not the Creed. “God Bless America” is not the Doxology.
Sometimes one needs to state the obvious—especially at times when it’s less and less obvious.
I had some down time this morning from Independence Day weekend festivities with my family and wanted to post a quick something. The above quotation is from an editorial column in the latest Christianity Today. On this eve of the 4th of July and wake of the recent Supreme Court Justice resignation, Christians (particularly the right-wing variety) need a reality check.
