The proverbial WWJD Christian response is making it’s rounds on the blogosphere, especially the progressive Christian kind. People are asking, “how would Jesus respond?” which translates into, “how should we Christians respond?”
Well, what’s your answer? As followers of Jesus and His radical Way, how should we respond to this calculated mayhem, this blood-lust rage against the innocent?
Should we turn the other cheek? Should we respond with love? Should we give them our tunic, too? Should we show mercy? Should we show the same grace bestowed to us by an as offended God? Should we sympathize with these Muslim barbarians, chalking their “acting out” to years
of “oppression” by Western nations? Or, should we bomb and shoot the shit out of the barbaric executers and any country tied to those responsible? Further more, how should 10 Downing Street respond? Should the government simply lovingly forgive and turn cheek, or return an “eye for and eye,” a bomb for a bomb?
I am not trying to be cute here with any of these questions. I am genuinely searching for answers as a follower of Jesus and His Way. Grasping for a response, I have no words, no answers or even pieces of answers.
