PRAYERS FOR MY CITY: Wednesday Afternoon

Gracious heavenly Father, who created every person in my city equally in your image and likeness, I pray this day against the toxic disease of discrimination: May you convict me of the ways I have participated in racial injustice and the ways in which my city continues to foster an environment of separation; may you break all strongholds of superiority and destroy the dividing lines of economic separation in my city; and may you convict and empower the Church of Jesus Christ to stand as a model of unity and beacon of hopeful reconciliation; through the might and power of your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Thanks. I find that I need to pray against racism — or I'm not aware of it or the ways I may be unknowingly participating in it.
